Look for family-friendly accommodation for your next break

When you want a family break, it’s great to choose a hotel that has plenty of activities and clubs for the children too. Parents need some time out too so look for a location that offers childcare services while you enjoy dinner or a relaxing spa treatment. Accommodation that comes with children’s activities, kid’s areas in the pools and even an entertainment team in some of the bigger resorts is the ideal choice for many families looking to get away from it all.

Some hotels offer a certain amount of complimentary childcare for each day of your stay, a babysitter who will visit your room and even a Breakfast Club where your children are collected from the room, leaving you to spend some extra time snuggled up in bed.

Baby-friendly services to look for include: a baby-listening system whereby staff at reception will be immediately alerted if your child wakes up or makes noise. Many hotels offer a pre-bookable equipment service so you don’t need to remember to pack every single item. These include cots, changing mats, nappy bins and bottle warmers. Some accommodation will even offer a bottle washing and sterilizing service.

At some facilities a creche is offered for babies from 12 weeks old. All staff will have received enhanced background checks and specialist training but you can ask to check for peace of mind. For more information about who needs a CRB Check, please visit http://www.carecheck.co.uk

Travelling with toddlers can be an exhausting experience so finding a hotel that caters to your specific needs is important. Look for locations that offer children’s clubs, special earlier restaurant times for young children and somewhere that provides equipment such as potties and bed guards.

Older children will enjoy having their own menu in the restaurant, holiday clubs with toys, games and outdoor sporting activities. Craft and Arty activities are another thing to look for to keep the children occupied while you enjoy some grown-up time. For children older than 10 years, a clubhouse where they can play pool, enjoy some video gaming and watch movies on a wide screen TV will be much appreciated.

If you’re travelling with older children and/or young teens, you might want to consider accommodation that offers family suites with the possibility of interconnecting rooms for added space and privacy. That way you won’t have any arguments over who is hogging the bathroom!

Having quality time to spend together as a family is incredibly important but so too is personal space and the ability to unwind independently of each other for a short period of time. Adults can spend some time playing sports, getting spa treatments, sipping champagne on the terrace or reading a good book. The children get to enjoy new activities and increase their self-confidence and independence in a safe and caring environment.
